  • Since 1976, 655 antiquities have been brought back from abroad.
  • The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is responsible for the conservation and maintenance of 3,685 centrally protected monuments and archaeological sites, including facilities such as drinking water, pathways, toilets, and landscaping.
  • Maintenance is continuous and depends on local needs and available resources.
  • Under the National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (2007), data for 11,406 heritage structures and 12,46,211 antiquities has been documented and made available on the NMMA website.
