Indian Railways is one of the biggest employers in the world. Jobs in the railway sector are highly preferred, as they bring good compensation and excellent perks. Every year, a large number of vacancies are advertised by the Indian Railways. Indian Railways is divided into 4 Zones. These 4 zones are further separated into 17 sub-zones. Each zone has it's own headquaters, in all, there are 21 zonal headquaters,each having their own recruitment boards and recruitment process.
In the 2016 notification, Indian Railways has advertised vacancies for the 9 posts, namely; Commercial Apprentice (CA), Traffic Apprentice (TA), Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerk (ECRC), Goods Guard, Senior Clerk-cum-Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist (JAA), Assistant Station Master (ASM), Traffic Assistant & Senior Time Keeper.
Selection Procedure : The first phase of the selection procedure is Common Written Examination (CWE).
In Group A & B categories, for some specific posts, there is an interview after the written exam, while for certain other categories, there is a Skill Test (like typing test or stenography test). Categories related to operational safety like Assistant Station Master, Assistant Loco Pilot have an additional Aptitude Test.
